The last school in which I taught had over 38 countries represented. I knew the students were all coming with preconceived ideas, stereotypes and prejudices. Helping them learn about each others culture and heritage was key to breaking down the walls and helping to create a community in the classroom. Diversity, if embraced and honored, makes the learning experience so much richer.
