She has decades of experience working with educational leaders, teachers, parents and students to transform schools into high-achieving environments with engaged students and families. Her business experience is personal — opening her own consulting firm in 1992, building on her experience as a federal government manager and non-profit executive.

Her effective efforts to strengthen diverse schools and their surrounding communities have earned her national recognition, including Virginia Education Advocate of the Year.
